Qing Dynasty¡¯s mummified corpse discovered in Xinjiang

 

¡¡This photo (as picture 01) , taken on Tuesday, January 6, 2009, shows a mummified corpse that dates back to Qing Dynasty. It was found recently in Turpan region in northwest China¡¯s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. Construction workers excavated a total of five male mummies the day before. The excavation site has been cordoned off for protection

¡¡One of the five such mummified corpses (as picture 02) is 1.7-meter tall and has a long pigtail. He wears cotton padded jacket and trousers.

¡¡This photo (as picture 03), taken on Tuesday, January 6, 2009, shows a pair of cotton shoes especially made for the deceased, unearthed along with five mummified corpses in Turpan region.

¡¡Archaeologists and relics experts jointly conduct a preliminary research into the site where five mummified corpses were found (as picture 04).

¡¡A construction worker watches an ancient corpse (as picture 05) found in Turpan region. He was one of the group who discovered five such mummified corpses.
