Pakistan, China to launch two bus services in June
 

A contract was made between China and Pakistan to launch two bus service from Pakistan. One route will be Kashgar-Khunjerab-Sust-Gilgit and the other Tashurgan-Khunjerab-Sust, this plan will be carried of from June 15.
An agreement to this effect was signed in Islamabad after two days of talks between senior Pakistani and Chinese officials.

The bus service from Gilgit to Kasghar will be run on daily basis, while between Sust to Tashkurgan three times in a week. The Pakistani side was represented by Joint Secretary at Ministry of Communications and Chinese side was led by Deputy Director General at Xinjiang Communication Department, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, People's Republic of China.

Both sides also finalized the number of permits for the year 2006, operators, fare rates, bus schedules and excess baggage charges. Proposal to extend Islamabad-Kashgar route up to Urumqi was also discussed and details would be finalized in the next meeting. Speaking on the occasion Pakistani Minister for Communications Shamim Siddiqui said that the bus service from Pakistan to China will benefit the local population of both the countries as well as it will strengthen the relations between the two countries.

He said it will provide an opportunity to Pakistan and Chinese people to come closer. It will also increase trade volume between Pakistan and China.
According to the meeting£¬China will provide three hundred and fifty million dollars for the rehabilitation of Karakuram Highway.
It is said that the rehabilitation of the Karakuram Highway the exporters from western part of China will use this highway for their exports to Gwadar Port in future. The head of Chinese delegation said that China and Pakistan enjoy close bilateral relations.
He said China is not only making investment in Gwadar, but is helping Pakistan in the rehabilitation of Karakuram Highway.
