Turpan listed state-level historical city

Until now, China have 100 cities which listed historical cities, only Kashkar city in Xinjiang province got the honor .

since 2003, Turpan city started to apply to be the autonomous regional level historical city. Turpan city and Tikes county in Eli prefecture were authorized to be Autonomous regional historical cities in 2004.

As a bright bead on the ancient silk road, Turpan city has been quite important town for politics, economy, culture and ethnic developing .Turpan possesses abound of state level cultural relics such as ¡°the Jiao he ancient city¡±, ¡°Gao chang ancient city¡±, ¡°Bezaklik budda caves¡± , ¡°Astana graveyards¡± , ¡°The Emin minaret¡± etc . in addition , exists 23 regional level cultural unit preservation organs. they have great value to research history of ancient kingdoms ,ethnic ,cultures of Turpan city.

It has been considering that through this plan , listed in state level historical city, Turpan city can get more fuel to preservation work ,developing , tourism and in the end enhance whole level of development of society.

The locality is speeding up their steps to compile ¡° Turpan city¡¯s historical relics protection plan ¡± and ¡°historical areas protection plan¡± which includes preserve ¡°old village traditional area¡±, ¡°the Kariz system¡± etc. they promised to improve the surrounding environment , cultural relic historical site protection as well as correlation infrastructure construction and so on.
